Opening words

Hello! You’re all very welcome here.

You may have noticed the little name change. Now that Catherine's Place is no longer a place, I've been thinking about a name replacement to describe this new community, untied from any one physical place but founded upon the same values of kindness, inclusion and integrity. After much pondering, we’re going forward as Quiet Community with Catherine - as everything I do is about building a kind, inclusive community. A community that you can be a part of whether you attend a weekly yoga class, comment on our socials, try creative writing with us, or join us for a lovely retreat.

What is a Quiet Community?

A space that creates a sense of belonging in a world that often values extroversion over introversion. A feeling of safety and acceptance amongst others that encourages the sharing of thoughts and allows for creativity and wellbeing.

For me, the sense of belonging, deep connection, creativity and wellbeing are at the heart of what our Quiet Community is all about. If I was going to sum it up in two words? Quiet & kind.

What's special about Quiet Community retreats?

We're a quiet community - expect a curated group of friendly people with hobbies in common, a focus on calm and creativity, and time for quiet.

Everything about my retreats is designed with neurodiversity and overwhelm in mind. Coming from someone who is neurodiverse and needs a solid plan to function, I promise this will be a calming, well-organised retreat in London - a trip I’ve done year after year!

Writing prompts

In my writing and in my thoughts, I've been ruminating on endings and beginnings. Not surprising as one business has come to an end, making space for a new one.

For our creative writing prompt, I've been thinking about unsatisfactory endings - predictable ones, incomplete ones, rushed ones. Change an ending that left you unsatisfied (or completely rock the boat and come up with an even more unsatisfying one!).

Creative Writing Prompt: Fairytales Prompt: Think about a favourite story or fairytale from your childhood. Rewrite it with a different ending.

A journal prompt to help you reframe an abrupt ending - perhaps one completely outside of your control as mine was - as something that had to happen to create space for something new.

Journal Prompt: Write about an ending that has led to a new beginning in your life

As always, I’m super grateful for everyone who has come to a class, joined us for Creative Writing Club (what a great session this month!), liked a post, responded to an email and supported our Quiet Community in any way.

Catherine's Place may be closed, but a new beginning - our Quiet Community - is just getting started.

Lots more to come!

With love,

Catherine x
